The Software Engineer, Crawling Heuristics will develop algorithms and heuristics to classify/cluster large-scale data using mathematical, statistical or heuristical knowledge and techniques and develop efficient production-level programs and implement algorithms in proof-of-concept. This involves implementing advanced computer algorithms/heuristics for crawling, internet search and web data analysis using data-mining technology, improving the crawler with respect to freshness, discovery latency, the quality of the crawled contents and coverage. Scaling up algorithms to immense volumes of web data with statistic analysis is also required. You will also be responsible for developing software utilities for monitoring and analyzing any web-related clustering/classification results and investigation using statistical algorithms. The person filling this position must have good communication skills and flexible. Written and spoken English is a requirement.

Project Oriented

• Perform evaluations of the product while in development and provide feedback to the development groups
• Develop and maintain test sets
• Implement mechanisms to monitor application performance
• Invent heuristics, develop prototypes and monitor the impact to the crawling

Communications

• Communicate with development groups across multiple locations during product conception, planning, implementation, and testing
• Communicate with supervisor on project progress and issues relating to the technology or schedule impact of decisions

• Ensure that high quality is maintained throughout all internal processes and external deliverables

Technical Skill Level

• MS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math or related discipline with 3 years relevant experience or more
• Hands-on experience with most of the following technologies: C/C++, HTML/XML/XSL, Perl, CVS, Linux, SQL/ODBC

Professional Skill Level

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills that allow the candidate to work effectively across multiple organizations
• Superior problem solving skills
